Simply Fired One dark winter day in January 2005, Google simply fired Mark Jen for blabbing a little too much on his blog … oops! After landing a dream job with Google, an overly excited Mark started dishing the dirt on Google, giving his fellow bloggers the 411 on company financial information and vague product info. Bad move. Google, being understandably careful about disclosing sensitive information, promptly gave Mark the boot. Destined for great things, Mark went on to found SimplyFired.com. At SimplyFired.com, site users are encouraged to share their stories, and they can enter a fun contest in which the grand prizewinner gets to attend a cruise with Apprentice cast members fired by Donald Trump. If nothing else, this website makes for a cute read—it gets a Snazzy Thumbs up! Family Acceptance On a December day in 1997, in a small Georgia town, a gay teenager named Adam found the strength to “come out” to his loving parents, Patti and Jeff Ellis. Patti and Jeff's initial reaction was to feel devastated and think that their world had been turned upside down. After seeking the help of several counselors, Patti and Jeff finally came to terms with Adam's sexuality and learned to embrace it. Together, Patti and Jeff launched FamilyAcceptance.com as a way of providing comfort to parents who feel trapped, confused or despairing. FamilyAcceptance.com is a wonderful resource for parents—aside from identifying with Patti and Jeff, parents will find resources in books, videos and Internet links. Best of all, Patti and Jeff are available to be contacted for further support. Bert is Evil For those with a wickedly fun sense of humor, we recommend Bertisevil.tv. Designed as a parody of the loveable Sesame Street character Bert, this website exposes the secret double life Bert has been living. The website provides evidence of Bert's O.J. connection, his assault on fellow Sesame Street neighbor Prairie Dawn, his relationship with Osama Bin Laden and much more. Bert is Evil is a definite eye-opener; you'll never look at Sesame Street in the same light again. For those of you who find the humor in Bert is Evil, we recommend logging onto http://www.avenueq.com for further Sesame Street parodies.
